Corporate philanthropy is easy to announce and difficult to sustain. Judd Zebersky made it a founding commitment. When he launched Jazwares in 1997, he established Jazwares Cares as part of the company’s structure from day one, not as an afterthought once profits arrived.
Over the course of nearly three decades, the program donated millions of toys to children’s hospitals, Title I schools, and a roster of nonprofits that includes Make-A-Wish, Toys for Tots, and Ronald McDonald House. The mission stayed consistent even as the company grew from a startup into a global toy operation with distribution in more than 100 countries.
Personal Giving Alongside Corporate Commitments
Zebersky’s personal philanthropy ran in parallel with the company’s charitable work. He and his family contributed $2 million to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and maintained ongoing support for Make-A-Wish Southern Florida. That giving was not contingent on company milestones or public recognition; it was woven into how Zebersky operated from the beginning.
The business side of Judd Zebersky‘s career is well documented. He left his law practice in 1997, traveled to Chinese factories to learn manufacturing from the ground up, and built Jazwares into a company whose products include Squishmallows, one of the most commercially successful toy lines in recent memory. More than 100 million Squishmallows sold in a single year, with units retailing between $5 and $30. Celebrities including Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian helped amplify the brand on TikTok.
Recognition and Transition
External recognition accumulated over time. Jazwares appeared on TIME’s Most Influential Companies list and received honors from Fortune and Fast Company. Zebersky personally received the South Florida Business Journal’s Ultimate CEOs award in 2024 and appeared on The Business Report’s Top 50 Entrepreneurs list in 2023.
He stepped down as CEO on March 20, 2026. David Neustein, the company’s Chief Operating Officer for 14 years, assumed leadership on March 23.
